IUSD ATHLETICS UPDATE
The California Department of Public Health recently released guidelines for youth sports, which allow IUSD schools to offer youth sports after Aug. 20. Sports will follow state guidelines, including physical distancing of six feet and skill, agility and conditioning activities only with no contact. The guidance does not permit team competition, but does allow for individual or team physical conditioning and training and physical education where physical distancing can be maintained and ideally outdoors. Indoor physical conditioning and training is allowed only in counties where gyms and fitness centers are allowed to operate indoors.
Please see the CDPH Youth Sports Guidance (https://files.covid19.ca.gov/pdf/guidance-youth-sports--en.pdf).
Following the CDPH youth sports guidelines and IUSD health and safety protocols, University High School Athletics is proud and excited to welcome our student-athletes back by providing Fall Athletic Camps. Camps are designed to teach skills in each sport as well as proper conditioning and strength techniques while giving athletes an opportunity to connect in-person with our coaching staff.
Fall Camps are open to all student-athletes, recreational, and entirely voluntary. They will take place outside of instructional hours and limited to cohorts of 14 athletes. No shared equipment will be allowed to start. Participation in camps is not offered for credit and is not a prerequisite for equal access to participate in athletics teams. Lastly, camps do not take the place of tryouts. Separate tryout dates will be posted on the University High School Athletics Home page. Camps may run through November.
