Please watch this video BEFORE you come for your individual sophomore conference with your counselor!
Throughout the first semester of tenth grade, we continue to monitor the progress of our tenth-grade students. In conjunction with the College and Career Coordinator, we administer a career interest inventory (via Naviance) to sophomores. The results are shared and discussed with the students during their sophomore counseling conference.
From January through April, we schedule group meetings with every sophomore and his/her parents to develop a personalized academic plan and discuss post-high school options. This conference covers in detail: transcripts, grad check, college requirements, testing, career interests, ROP, college options, summer school, resumes, summer enrichment programs, and areas of concern. Course selection is confirmed when teachers submit their recommendations later in the semester. Sophomores have the opportunity to take the PACT (practice ACT) during spring semester. Letters to parents of at-risk students recommending summer school are sent again in May.
